Name(s): Megilwen of Norenhav, multiple aliases
Race: Steel dragon
Origin: unknown
Age: approximately 6,000 OWY (Old World, or “human” years)
Gender: Female
Powers: Megilwen is a steel dragon, a sub-species of metallic dragon that draws its existence as well as its physical, spiritual and magical abilities from the resilient compound of steel. As such, she is remarkably “steel-willed”, and a dangerously fierce foe to all but the strongest, most experienced of opponents. She possesses a mild regenerative spell, devastating skill with her weapon(s) and physical attacks, and a potent arsenal of air-based magick and spells. While not a true shape-shifter, she is capable of changing between dragon and human forms at will, her physical self taking on the qualities of liquid metal during the transition. As a dragon, her scales are replaced by sturdy, semi-lustrous and interlocking plates of savagely tempered metal. Steel dragons are known for their lithe, graceful form, and can be talented aerobats. The heaviness of their armored scales, however, ensures that this aviatrix has a severely limited endurance whenever she takes to the skies.
Skills: She is resourceful and seductive, a cunning diplomat with many years of experience at getting her way…and at manipulating society around her to facilitate her wishes into being. In some ways, she may become the society itself – as the rich widow who bribes a politician, she may, too, assume the form of the beggar who is struck by him while pleading for alms, the cook who feeds him, the mistress who serves him, the servant girl who maintains his household, the woman who is ruled by him, the prostitute who gratifies him, and the assassin who eventually murders him when his usefulness is outlived. This ability to juggle many volatile faces at once suggests a certain level of artistry on her behalf, and she is indeed quite a talented musician. Though she is compulsive of collecting many riches for her horde, she is most fond of ancient tomes and fine books of diverse origin, especially if they contain rare knowledge and cultural information that she has not had the pleasure of reading.
Equipment: Like every master of disguise, Megilwen’s wardrobe is as assorted as she wills it to be, and she assumes diverse arrays of baubles and ornaments for each new “person” she wishes to become. In her preferred, natural form, she adorns herself in a revealing outfit of sorts that she has assembled out of various clothing items collected throughout her life’s travels. And, like all steel dragons, she adorns her body with steel – her weapon, her skin and even her tail are all affixed with the hardened alloy. In human form, her primary offensive and defensive weapon is an enormous and unbreakable steel dragon’s claw, which has been fashioned into a weapon by hands far more skilled than those that exist in the present. Used in the manner of a giant scythe, the blade is complimented by a length of enchanted mythril chain.
Physical Description: Dragon form, compared with one of her many alter egos…
…and human form, appearing as approximately eighteen human years of age.

Background/Personality: Megilwen is an ethereal, complex and transcendental creature – one not easily categorized or referenced. Perhaps most importantly, however, is her marked preference for human form, a trait held by many of the remaining steel dragons. She possesses thousands of years of life experience and can draw from an encyclopedic knowledge of her many adventures throughout the physical and astral realms. But, despite her seemingly mature lifespan, she is apart in demeanor from the largely benevolent dragon-kin of Earth's region of Roxai. Naturally serene and guardedly distant, she is also selfish and can behave like an angry child when any one of her numerous machinations unravel. While occasionally generous in her own way, Megilwen maintains a maddeningly stubborn air of superiority over the mortals with whom she surrounds – and hides – herself. Though her many aliases may carry on many diverse façades, the dragon herself is extremely private and secretive, having rewarded only a handful of her acquaintances with gifts of her council, trust and power over the course of her long lifespan. Only with the utmost reluctance will she agree to an allegiance – an unfettered lifestyle that keeps her enjoyably free from obligation. Much of her past is impenetrably shrouded in this cone of detached silence, and she is all too content to permit the world around her to dwell in blissful ignorance of her existence and whereabouts.
History: Because of her secrecy and the extremely small number of the living who are permitted to confide with her, precious little is known of her past or origin. Only the most well-travelled immortals or bards may remember a land where warriors and dragon-kin lived and fought side-by-side. There, once upon a golden age, magnificent castles and guilded towers pierced the heavens, filled with tributes to the ethereal beasts at once viewed as gods and friends. Such stories are all but forgotten by time now, hidden beneath dark skies and the white snows of a frosted north where only the bravest of souls rarely venture…and rarely still return. To those who would pry, however, there are stories of a steel dragon of dubious and untrustworthy reputation, seen brooding and prowling the borders of Roxai in centuries past. Though no one source can provide a clear reason, it is clear that the dragon, occasionally known as “Faustienne”, is not held in high regard by the many kin living there.
